York

You can't spend time at Allerthorpe Golf & Park retreat without visiting York, a city with a wealth of Roman and Viking history. With so much to do in York, it's a firm favourite for visiting all year round. 

Visit 'The Shambles', an enchanting medieval street rumoured to be the inspiration for street 'Diagon Alley' in fan-favourite novel Harry Potter. You also can't miss York Minster, the second largest Gothic cathedral of Northern Europe, offering the best views over York.

There's also seasonal events all eyar round such as St Nicholas' Fayre in December, a tasty annual Food Festival in September and much more!

Castle Howard

One of Britain's finest stately homes, Castle Howard makes a cultured day out all year round. Featuring a pristine 18th century house and 1,000 acres of well landscaped gardens, you're bound to get lost in lavish surroundings wherever you find yourself.

Known for it's monumental landscape, visit statues and temples in the gardens or adventure in the woodland before admiring the seasonal floral displays and relaxing by 'The Great Lake'.

We recommend sitting back in the Boathouse Cafe whilst admiring the tranquil surroundings.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park

An exhilerating day out lies at Yorkshire Wildlife Park (YWP), a conservation project like no other in the North. Helping the conservation of threatened and endangered species, YWP prides it's self on the welfare of it's animals.

See the 13 Lions that made the news in 2013 when YWP rescued them, watch the Giant Otter's play, walk with Lemur's, see the only Polar Bear's in England and much more!

Knaresborough

Perched on cliffs above the River Nidd, medieval streets and stone staircases make up the setting of Knaresborough, a beautiful landscape for a romantic day out.

The awe-inspiring Viaduct is the first thing you notice, get the best photograph's of this stunning view by climbing up the steps to Knaresborough castle.

A must-do in Knaresborough, hire a row boat and explore the water's of the River Nidd before enjoying a delicious baked treat at one of Knaresborough's array of Cafe's.

Dalby Forest

Explore 8,000 acres of Woodland in Dalby Forest, situated on the southern slopes of the North York Moors National Park.

By day Dalby Forest is perfect for walking, cycling or enjoying a tasty picnic in quiet surroundings. For those adrenaline junkies, Go Ape offers high ropes in the forest, not for the faint-hearted!

By night, Dalby Forest is one of best places to go star gazing. Listed as a 'Milky Way' site, the Milky Way can be visible to the naked eye at the Dalby Forest observatory!
